Haley Holmes, 3K/4K Teacher
Haley grew up in Lena, Illinois. Her mother ran a home daycare, and Haley helped out with the duties for as far back as she can remember.
She graduated from UW Platteville in 2016 with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood Studies. She comes to us from SS. Andrew - Thomas Catholic School in Potosi, where she completed and loved her first official year of teaching.
She tries to weave faith into every subject – "things like teaching children to be kind, putting others first, and helping each other. I help them to know who God is in terms they can understand and teach them to be an image of God every day."
Diane Drefcinski, Physical Education Teacher
Diane and her family moved to Platteville in 1997 when her husband began teaching Philosophy at UWP. They have 6 children, 3 girls and 3 boys ages 25-13, and one grandchild.
Diane is licensed to teach K-8th grades and taught 6 years full-time in Catholic schools before having children. She has been a substitute in classrooms and Phy Ed programs for 6 years in parochial and public schools.
In addition to currently teaching phy ed to the 3 and 4 year olds at St. Mary (25 min, 5 days a week), she is in her 4th year as the Resource teacher at Holy Ghost-Immaculate Conception school in Kieler during the afternoons. She is also a cross country and track coach at Platteville Middle School.
There are no standards at this time for pre-kindergarten physical education. Thus Diane has developed a program based on the standards for kindergarten. Classes include aerobic development, muscle and coordination challenges, and fun activities.
Diane states, "It is a pleasure to work in St. Mary School". We are so blessed to have Diane who has committed her life to faith, family, and education.
